I've been camping there for a decade or more. I enjoy it enough that I don't miss being inside at night.
Who else will be at Darling's this year?

Tue, June 3, 2008 - 2:43 AMNo one else here will be at Darling's this year?! Awwwww....
Maybe everyone on this tribe is on the inside, in which case I can understand. But if you're not inside at night, Darling's has the best night-time scene of any campground I know -- in SOME ways, even better than being inside....
So check it out. And if you do, come say hello. I'll be wherever the good drumming is happening... :)

Thu, June 26, 2008 - 3:17 PMThis is my first time camping at Darling (or camping at all at the fair). All my boyfriend will tell me is how much I'm going to love it...
Can anyone else just give me a few more hints???
Thanks -

Re: Darling's
Thu, June 26, 2008 - 10:05 PMdarling is so alive and full of energy... even when it starts getting quiet and people begin to drift off to sleep, you can still feel it in the air.
make sure you have plenty of water and ways to cool yourself off. and ways to stay out of the sun now and then.
make sure you have comfortable shoes, there are little holes every where in the roads of the grounds. worse at night when you can't see them.
goodness... what else?
always keep a couple dollars in your pocket, you will find amazing little things at booths as you wander darling.
that's all i can think of for now except for the most important thing:
make sure that you are at the fire pit in the evenings on friday and saturday. you will be blown away by the beauty of what you will see take place there. the drummers and poi dancers all come out and have a jolly old time. and all around people are just grooving to the beats and silent from awe of what we are all watching. takes my breath away just thinking of it.
sorry, i'm just working myself up at this point.
but i hope you have a delightful time at darling's. it's so hard not to.

Fri, June 27, 2008 - 12:39 PMKey word is Reunion. It's like coming home to your cool aunt's fabulous farm. And thousands of your friends and family are there too! And you get to hang out and camp and laugh and play and not worry too much about anything at all for just a few days.
Kinda like that. -
